The entry-level stage in Sarah’s fiction services is a brief assessment of the summary, outline, and first three chapters of the novel. The novel does not have to be completed at this stage. The writing and storyline will be evaluated as to their overall viability–e.g. Does the author show promise in being able to pull off this story? Would an agent or publisher want to see the rest? The viability assessment is a four-step process, as follows:

1. If you are interested in the service, click here, fill out the form, and Sarah will email you her viability assessment form and further instructions.

2. Sarah reads your completed viability assessment form and the first three chapters of your novel. (REQUIRED: submit in Word, double-spaced, 12 pt font, Times New Roman, 1-inch margins, indentation at the start of each new paragraph and/or line of dialogue, pages numbered in the header or footer, author’s name & working title in header. Also–because it’s Sarah’s pet peeve & will drive her bonkers–only one space, not two, after a period.)

3. Sarah follows up with the author in an email briefly listing the top strengths as well as the major bumps, flaws, and/or pitfalls of the material.

4. If the author sends a few brief clarifying questions in one email, Sarah will respond to those briefly in one email.

Expected turnaround: 2-4 weeks. Service fee: $129.
