Jeannette Larson is a children’s book editor who loves a memorable turn of phrase, a haunting or hilarious illustration, and the unique spark between the two that results in unforgettable books. She spent nearly thirty years in editorial leadership positions at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Books for Young Readers, acquiring and editing picture books and middle-grade/teen fiction. Many of the books she has shepherded into publication have received notable awards and appeared on national bestseller lists.

With deep respect for the creative process and an author’s vision, Jeannette now has an independent editorial consultancy that nurtures fledgling book ideas and publishing programs. She is consulting editor for Flyaway Books, an exciting voice in children’s book publishing and a sister imprint to Westminster John Knox Press. Flyaway Books publishes a wide range of emerging and established authors and artists, focusing on picture books that embrace diversity, inclusivity, compassion, spiritual curiosity, and care for each other and the world. Jeannette also works with individual writers seeking professional guidance and editing for books headed toward commercial or independent publication. www.linkedin.com/in/jeannettelarson
