Drawing on her experience as the child of Jamaican immigrants, born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, Patrice Gopo enjoys exploring issues of race, immigration, and belonging. Her essays have appeared in a variety of publications, including Catapult, Creative Nonfiction, Gulf Coast, Full Grown People, and online in The New York Times and The Washington Post. Her radio commentaries have appeared on Charlotte, North Carolina’s NPR Station WFAE 90.7. Her work has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize, and she is the recipient of several Regional Artist Project Grants and a 2017-2018 NC Arts Council Artist Fellowship. Patrice lives with her family in North Carolina, and her essay collection, All the Colors We Will See: Reflections on Barriers, Brokenness, and Finding Our Way, is now available. The book was a Fall 2018 Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers selection.
