Robbie Clifton Pinter is Professor of English at Belmont University where she has taught writing for 33 years. She enjoys teaching a wide variety of writing genres (e.g., The Journal, Memoir, Place Writing, Writing for Social Change, Spirituality and Writing) that connects a writer’s deepest longing with the sacred call to be fully human. In her courses, she provides students with the framework for real-life writing practice. She offers workshops and publishes about life writing and its connection to contemplation and action, in both academic and non-academic publications. Some include Guideposts, Alive Now, The Fresh Air Series, and JAEPL. In 2004, Pinter published her own memoir, For This Child I Prayed, which tells the story of open adoption. She works with several local non-profits and serves as a spiritual director in the Nashville area.
