Since 2005 I have served as the editorial director for New City Press. My job is to help authors—some with long experience in publishing, some producing their first books—maintain their unique voice while adapting their concepts to the needs of contemporary audiences. For nearly forty years I taught English, especially written composition, in secondary schools and in universities. I have been shaped also by my involvement in ecumenical and interreligious dialogue as well as in promoting respect for life, and peace and justice. In addition to my work as an editor, I serve on the boards of several nonprofits—New City Press; the Leti Resource Center, which promotes education, economic self-sufficiency, and women’s health in rural Uganda; and The Initiative, an ecumenical intentional community. I and my wife, Kathleen, have been shaped by the Focolare Movement’s gospel-based spirituality of unity and by John Paul II’s Theology of the Body in living out our Christian vocation in family, professions, parish, and community. We have three adult children and two grandchildren.
