If you are able to reside within your questions, if you allow memories to speak their mysteries, then the Great Mystery breathes life into your story. Only then will it touch your reader.
Make a list of all the grand questions of your life. (What happens when we die? Why did your mother abandon you? What exactly does it mean to forgive?) Add to his list questions about the minute mysteries in life (Why do people hiccup? How will I get the phone bill paid?) Reflect on what it means to love these questions.
